car ride with the dogs as case study

By jeremy - Posted on 29 November 2008

The plan for the day was to go on a hike with a friend, that plan ended when her car started smoking outside Sandy, OR.  Several gallons of water and radiator fluid later and after driving 30 MPH with stopping every eight miles for a refill later we managed to get back to my place. We eventually decided that I would follow her half way home and if things went well on the way there then I'd just hang out at a coffee shop until she got home.    I figured I'd take the dogs with me just to give them a treat (Sammie can't really walk very well any more, right legs problems).

After getting the all clear from my friend I started home and it was how the dogs behaved after I got the car home and put in the garage. I should mention that I parked closer to the saw horses then usual.

George being the dork that he is

  • got his head stuck between the passenger seat and the door.
  • more relevant is it was only the driver side doors that were open.
  • when he did get untangled, he fell out of the back seat on to the garage floor
  • proceeded to run into the front driver side door

Sammie:

  • just layed down until George was out of the way.
  • hopped out of the backseat
  • in place of walking around the saw horses...
  • she layed down under the front driver door and waited for it to be shut
