Permaculture, Transition Initiative and Portland, OR

By jeremy - Posted on 05 July 2009

Here are the slides that I presented to the Permaculture Designer Course at Tryon Farm last week. My section was specifically regarding introducing the Transition Initiative, which I've always viewed as social permaculture. One of the main goals of a Transition Initiative is to create an Energy Descent Action Plan. In Portland we are looking to take existing Municipality driven efforts and fill in the gaps, mostly from grassroot, voluntary steps. The good news is we can greatly reduce our dependency on long supply lines, fossil fuels and increase both community resilience and quality of life.
