401k options with socially responsible funds

By jeremy - Posted on 30 June 2005

From celebrating the small victory file, I now have two socially responsible funds to choose from for my 401k at work, Neuberger Derman Socially Responsive and the Domini Social Equity. I have at least heard of Domini but I don’t know the companies that are in these funds.

However I find it more then a little insane that there is a need to seek out 401k options that at least try to be socially responsible. I forget where I heard it but there was a great quote about the greater the misery, the greater the profit. I do remember that the subject of the talk was the effect of the tsunami that hit southern Asia. The countries that where hit the worst had there stock markets hit record highs in the days after the disaster. Sadly nothing move money like the smell of disaster capitalism.
