life as a veggie bachelor
While it took a while to remember some key time saving steps I'm picking up my veggie bachelor tricks again.
- my weekly shopping list is much more manageable now, all I need is rye bread, veggie slices, beer, eggs, bags of carrots and buttermilk. I try to remember to buy oranges and apples and even eat them sometimes. This goes along with the bulk: jelly, almond butter, quinoa, tempeh, pancake mix, raisins, walnuts, horse radish and dark chocolate chips.
- beer makes all meals taste better and is actually an ok replacement for buttermilk in pancakes.
- cooking is a lot easier when you make no effort to measure ingredients (except salt), this also makes for lunches (when I remember to put them in the car) and this has also made the dogs really happy.
- olive oil goes well with everything and doesn't go bad if you forget to put it back in the fridge.
- I only need to do dishes about every two week or so as that is about the time I run out of plates, bowels, tupperware lids and large cups.
- I don't really need to use the clothes drier any more as leaving the laundry in the washer with the lid open for a few days seems work well enough except for jeans and towels. Putting the washer on spin cycle after a few days seems to take enough of the wrinkles out of the t-shirts.
- if you spill soap on the bathroom counter, just let it dry. Then when you need to wash your hands (yes it does happen) just get your hands wet and wipe them on the dried soap. Heck I think I'm washing my hands more now then pre-soap spill.

This is an adorable entry... but don't drink too much beer! Beer pancakes?? Oh, and you don't need to refrigerate olive oil ever. Make sure you're eating lots of fresh veggies too, especially greens. Handy soap and dryer tricks, by the way.
